Kennel Update - 20/1/14 – Mon Jan 2014

It's been a very busy start to the New Year with a reasonable success rate for Golden Paw greyhounds. We've had wins for Black Veil, Wealthy Schooner and Mr Tee and seconds for a raft of dogs.

It was great to see Mr Tee win a heat of the VBIS Maiden series at Warragul and follow that up with a second last night to qualify for Friday night's final. Mr Tee is a full litter brother of Phenomenal and while he hasn't hit those heights, he is now giving great value to his owners with a new found turn of speed out of the boxes. Credit has to be given to Eddie Lieshout for the way he has turned this dog around.

We also had to retire the kennel favourite, Just Tripping, after he sustained a pulled back muscle in Perth. JT fought out of his weight division for most of last year in Perth but never turned it up in any race and gave his syndicate a fantastic ride. We brought him back to Melbourne and he will enter the GAP program shortly.

We have fifteen youngsters currently either breaking in or pre-training in Victoria and hope to see most of these grace the track before June. Without getting too carried away, a couple are posting very smart times and could be very speedy race dogs.

If you are looking for a good night out, Sandown are having their Ladies Night Out - Fifty Shades of Greyhound again on Thursday 27 February. It was a great success last year and promises to be a sell out again this year.
