Golden Paw Dogs Out In Force This Weekend - 25/04/13

This weekend, the Golden Paw has a strong representation in several states. Friday night at Geelong, Golden Goal is eyeing a return to the winners circle after a couple of misses caused by poor starts. She gets a more suitable distance this week and will be hard to beat.

Black Veil returns to The Meadows on Saturday night after being mugged in a first turn pile up last weekend. The daughter of Bombastic Shiraz has drawn ordinarily in box 5 but if she steps cleanly will be hard to beat.

Over in Perth, the kennel veteran Just Tripping suits up in another Free To all against the current boom WA dog, Boss Coin. The Boss proved way too good last week and looks too good again but JT has a good record against the rest and could easily snag a place.

Hot One’s back in form on home track - 10/03/13

Hot One's made a triumphant return to his beloved Lithgow yesterday winning in style. "Hank" has had his injury problems but seems to find an extra leg when he gets back to lithgow where he has now won six races. He didn't have a lot of luck in his Wentworth Park forays but a couple more performances like yesterday should see him tackling better class opposition shortly.

Racetrack success for Golden Paw - 14/02/13

The Golden Paw has celebrated a golden week with a couple of wins and two seconds as well.

Our WA export, Just Tripping, continued his interstae raid with a second consecutive win at Cannington last night. Beginning in an uncharacteristically good fashion, JT held his position from the check and had the field covered very early before careering away to win in 30.56 by seven lengths. He is backing up at Cannington on Saturday night in a middle distance 642 metre heat of the Summer Cup. It will be interesting to see how he handles the short turn around and extra distance.

Black Veil had her second run at Ballarat and performed courageously after a fairly rough race to hit the line strongly for an eye catching second in the Maiden Final over 390 metres. The strength of her finish indicates she will certainly appreciate a gradual rise in race distance over her next few starts.

Finally, Elusive Ed went round last week at Ballarat and performed creditably to reward his patient owners with a TIer 3 second placing.

Squirrel's Bet of the Week

JT says " My tipping last week was a bit unlucky with both selections getting hammered in early interference but we're not into excuses here, just results. These two are cast iron certainties."

SATURDAY 30/3/13 - WENTWORTH PARK - RACE 6 NO.2 DESTINI FIREBALL 9.10PM (AEST)
This is without doubt the best value bet of the greyhound year to date. Here is a dog that is unbeaten over 700 metres or more, has won his last seven on the trot, and has had one look at the track when he did everything wrong and still won. He has drawn box two from where he can control the race and is paying an extraordinary $3.20 fixed odds at Sportsbet. Yes, Fancy Liza and Back Page Lead are classy runners and will run interference but just get on and get in the queue.

SUNDAY 31/3/13 - BENDIGO - RACE 10 NO.1 LANGI BALE 9.02PM (AEST)
Stands out like a beacon amongst this average lot and will start short as a result. With her box speed from the red, she should slot in front and never have to look at anything but the lure. Rodillo Bronze may be nuisance value if he jumps and Langi Bale misses the start but really, whatever you make on Destini Fireball, all up it on this good thing.

Squirrel says: "Didn't have much luck in the run last week but gee I've eased up and could be called out for non-chasing here but I've been trialling well during the week and ready for a big run on the weekend."

THE MEADOWS - 30/3/13 - RACE 4, 8.22PM (AEST) - NO.3 - ZOENAH'S ENTITY
The Squirrel has followed this girl closely since she debuted and she looks to have this restricted win field covered. She has good early speed but is quite strong at the finish so she just needs to get through the first corner cleanly and she should be too hard to run down.

BENDIGO - 31/3/13 - RACE 2, 6.11PM (AEST) - NO.2 - DAVEN BALE
Daven Bale is a very consistent greyhound, only missing a place once in his last ten outings. He has recorded some exceptionally quick times recently and was a bit stiff in his heat of the Bendigo Cup last week. There are some very good dogs in this field so hoping to get some decent odds but Daven Bale should be in or very near the lead and be too strong to the line.
